MarkWrite: Edit Markdown

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. WHO WE ARE

MarkWrite: Edit Markdown ("MarkWrite", "the app") is a Markdown editor for

Android, published by Vasuki Infotech ("we", "us"). You can reach us at

sigma.game.developers@gmail.com

This policy explains what information the app handles, who gets it, and what

choices you have. By using the app you accept it. If you do not agree, please do

not use the app.

2. THE SHORT VERSION

 - Your documents stay on your phone. We never see them and the app never

   uploads them.

 - There is no account, no sign-in and no sign-up.

 - The app uses Google services to run and to pay for itself: Firebase

   Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Remote Config and Google AdMob

   (ads). They receive technical information about your device and how the app

   is used, described below. They never receive what you write.

 - In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland you are

   shown Google's consent form for ads, and you can change your choice at any

   time in Settings > Privacy options.

 - We do not sell your personal information.

3. WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

The following is stored on your phone only. It is not sent to us or to any

service listed in this policy:

 - the Markdown documents you open, write or save. Files are opened and saved

   through Android's own file picker, so the app asks for no storage permission

   and can only reach the files you choose;

 - drafts the app keeps so that your work survives the app closing or crashing;

 - the version history of a file (the last 20 versions);

 - the list of recent files and the search you type into it;

 - your settings: theme, accent colour, text size, language, layout, autosave

   and scroll-together.

This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android

settings. Files you saved to other places (for example your cloud storage) are

handled by those places, not by us.

4. INFORMATION COLLECTED BY THE SERVICES THE APP USES

The app contains software from Google that sends some information off your

device while you use it. None of it is your name, your email address, your

phone number or the content of your documents.

4.1 Firebase Analytics (Google)

    What we use it for: understanding which parts of the app are used, so that

    we can improve it.

    What it receives: an app-instance identifier (a random number the app is

    given, not tied to you), which screens you open and a few actions (for

    example opening a document, exporting, rating the app or sending feedback;

    only the name of the action, never document text), session information,

    app version, device model, operating system version, language, and an

    approximate location (country and city) worked out from your IP address.

    Google may also receive the Android advertising ID (see 4.4).

4.2 Firebase Crashlytics (Google)

    What we use it for: finding and fixing crashes.

    What it receives when the app crashes or reports an error: the technical

    details of the crash (stack trace), the state of the app, device model,

    operating system version, available memory and storage, app version, and a

    random installation identifier. We do not add document content to crash

    reports.

4.3 Firebase Remote Config (Google)

    What we use it for: switching ad placements on or off and supplying links

    (such as the address of this policy) without publishing a new version.

    What it receives: the app-instance and installation identifiers, app and

    operating system version, country, language, time zone and package name,

    which it needs to send you the right settings.

4.4 Google AdMob (ads)

    What we use it for: showing ads in the app (banners, small ads inside lists,

    full-screen ads and an ad when the app opens). Ads are what let us offer the

    app for free.

    What Google collects: your IP address (from which a general location can be

    estimated), the Android advertising ID, the app-set ID, information about

    your device and the app, how you interact with ads (shown, tapped), and

    diagnostic information such as launch time and crashes. Google uses it to

    show and measure ads, to prevent fraud and abuse, and for analytics.

    Non-personalised ads: the app asks for non-personalised ads.

    Your choices:

      - In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the app shows Google's consent

        form (the User Messaging Platform) the first time, and ads are only

        requested after it has been handled. You can reopen it at any time in

        Settings > Privacy options.

      - On your phone, go to Settings > Privacy (or Security & privacy) > Ads to

        delete your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalisation.

      - The app asks Android for the advertising ID through the permission

        "com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID".

How Google handles the information it receives is described in its own policies:

 - Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

 - Firebase and privacy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

5. WHEN INFORMATION LEAVES YOUR DEVICE BECAUSE YOU ASKED

 - Sharing and exporting. When you share text or a file, save an HTML page or

   print, the content goes to the app or service you choose in Android's share

   sheet, file picker or print screen. That app's own policy then applies.

 - Feedback and "Contact us". The app opens your email app with a prepared

   message. For feedback it holds how you rated the app, the topics you ticked,

   what you typed, the app version and your phone model. Nothing is sent unless

   you press send in your email app. We use what you send only to answer you and

   to improve the app.

 - Links and images in your documents. Tapping a link opens it in your browser.

   If a document contains an image address, the preview fetches that image from

   its server, which can then see your IP address. We do not control those

   sites.

 - This policy and our terms open as web pages inside the app, from our

   website.

6. WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT

The app does not ask for and does not collect: your name, email address or

phone number (unless you write to us), precise location, contacts, calendar,

photos, microphone, camera, health data, payment details or the files on your

phone other than the ones you open.

The permissions the app asks for are: Internet access, network state, and the

advertising ID. Google's advertising software adds a small number of related

technical permissions that it needs to work (for example for Android's Privacy

Sandbox ad services).

7. WHY WE USE INFORMATION (AND OUR LEGAL BASIS)

 - To provide and run the app and to keep it stable (crash reports, Remote

   Config): our legitimate interest in running a working app.

 - To understand how the app is used and improve it (analytics): our

   legitimate interest in improving the app.

 - To show ads: your consent where the law requires it (given through the

   consent form), otherwise our legitimate interest in funding the app.

 - To answer your messages: our legitimate interest, and your request.

 - To meet legal obligations and protect the app from abuse.

8. HOW LONG INFORMATION IS KEPT

 - Your documents, drafts and settings: on your phone until you delete them or

   the app.

 - Analytics data: kept by Google for a limited time (by default up to 14

   months), then deleted or aggregated.

 - Crash reports: kept for a limited time (by default 90 days).

 - Ad data: kept by Google under its own policies.

 - Emails you send us: as long as needed to deal with your message.

9. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Because there is no account, the information described above is tied to your

device and not to your name. You can still:

 - ask us what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask us to stop using

   it, by writing to [CONTACT EMAIL]. To help us find information that belongs

   to your device, say so in your message; we may ask for details only you can

   give;

 - change your ad choices (Settings > Privacy options, and Android's ad

   settings, see 4.4);

 - delete everything the app stores on your phone by uninstalling it or

   clearing its storage;

 - if you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland: withdraw your consent at any

   time, ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of

   your data, object to its use, and complain to your local data protection

   authority;

 - if you live in California or another US state with a privacy law: ask to

   know, delete or correct what we hold, and opt out of "sales" or "sharing"

   for advertising. We do not sell personal information for money.

10. CHILDREN

MarkWrite is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where the law sets a

higher age) and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a

child has given us information, write to [CONTACT EMAIL] and we will act on it.

11. SECURITY

Information that the Google services above receive from the app is sent over

encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Your documents are protected by Android's

own separation between apps. No method of storage or transmission is completely

secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

12. TRANSFERS ACROSS BORDERS

Google processes information in the United States and other countries. Where

the law requires it, Google relies on approved transfer mechanisms.

13. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy, for example when the app gains a feature. The

effective date at the top shows the latest version, and the app links to the

current text in Settings. If a change is significant we will say so in the

app's store listing or in the app.
