TERMS AND CONDITIONS
MarkWrite: Edit Markdown
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. ABOUT THESE TERMS
These terms are an agreement between you and [DEVELOPER NAME] ("we", "us") about
your use of the MarkWrite: Edit Markdown app ("the app"). By installing or using
the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what
information the app handles.
2. WHAT THE APP IS
MarkWrite is a Markdown editor for Android: you write text with a formatting
toolbar, see it rendered next to it, and open, save, share, export and print it.
It is free to use and is paid for by advertising. We may change, add or remove
features at any time.
3. YOUR LICENCE
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to
install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own use. You may
not:
- sell, rent, lend or sublicense the app, or offer it as your own;
- copy, modify or make derivative versions of the app, or remove notices from
it, except as the open-source licences described in section 9 allow;
- try to get around the app's technical limits or to interfere with the
advertising, analytics or other services it uses;
- use the app for anything unlawful, or in a way that could harm others or
the app.
The app's name, logo, icon, design and text belong to us or our licensors.
4. YOUR DOCUMENTS
You own what you write. Your documents stay on your device (see the Privacy
Policy): we do not receive, store or read them, and we are not responsible for
them. This means:
- you are responsible for what you write, share and publish with the app, and
for having the right to use it;
- you are responsible for keeping copies. The app keeps drafts and earlier
versions to help you, but they are stored on your phone and can be lost if the
phone is lost, damaged, reset or the app's storage is cleared. Please save
important work to files you also back up elsewhere;
- when you share or export a document, the app or service you choose receives
it, and its own terms apply.
5. ADVERTISING AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The app shows ads from Google AdMob and uses Google Firebase services. We do not
control advertisers or other third parties. What you do with an advertiser, or on
a website you reach through a link, is between you and them, and we are not
responsible for their content, products or practices. In some regions you will be
asked for your choice about ads before they are shown; you can change it in
Settings > Privacy options.
6. INTERNET CONNECTION AND COSTS
Writing and editing work without an internet connection. Ads, analytics, crash
reports, loading images in a preview, and opening links need one. You are
responsible for any charges your mobile provider makes for data, including
roaming. If you are not the person who pays for the phone, we assume you have
their permission to use the app.
7. UPDATES AND AVAILABILITY
We may release updates to fix problems, to add features or to keep up with new
versions of Android. We do not promise that the app will always be available,
free of errors, or work on every device or Android version. We may stop offering
the app, or any part of it, at any time. If we do, your licence ends and you
should delete the app; your documents, which are on your device, remain yours.
8. NO WARRANTY, LIMIT OF LIABILITY
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without promises of any kind,
whether stated or implied, including that it will suit a particular purpose or
never lose data.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage
that arises from your use of, or inability to use, the app: for example lost or
damaged documents, lost profits, or indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in
these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by
law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Where the law gives you rights as a consumer, those rights are not affected by
these terms.
9. OPEN-SOURCE SOFTWARE
Parts of the app are open-source software, used under their own licences (for
example the MIT Licence). Those licences apply to those parts, and nothing in
these terms limits the rights they give you.
10. ENDING THESE TERMS
You can stop at any time by deleting the app. We can end your licence if you
break these terms. When these terms end you must stop using the app and delete
it from your devices; sections that by their nature should continue (for
example sections 4, 8 and 12) continue.
11. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may change these terms, for example when the app changes. The effective date
at the top shows the latest version, and the app links to the current text in
Settings. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms. If
you do not accept them, stop using the app.
12. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of [COUNTRY], without regard to its rules on
conflict of laws. Courts in [COUNTRY] have jurisdiction over disputes, except
where the law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring a
claim in your own courts or protects you with its own rules.
